Leave in plenty of time to get to your bus stop. If you rush, you may forget to follow traffic safety rules. |
| |
Always walk in the sidewalk, if there is one; or on the shoulder of the road facing traffic, if there is no sidewalk. Never walk in the street! |
| |
At your bus stop, stay away from the street while you wait for the bus. Don't play around at the bus stop; stay aware of traffic and the safety rules |
| |
Make sure your bus driver can see you at all times by staying ten giant steps away from the outside of the bus. |
| |
Wait for your bus to stop completely before you walk toward it to get on, or before you stand up to get off. |
| |
Make sure your clothes or backpacks don't have any dangling drawstrings, toggles or key chains that can get caught on the bus handrail or door. |
| |
Don't carry big clumsy things to school on the bus. If you have something big to bring, ask your mom or dad to drive you to school. |
| |
Keep your hand on the rail both climbing on and off the bus so you don't trip on the steps. |
| |
If you miss your bus, don't run after it! |
| |
Find a seat and sit down immediately. Keep your hands and feet to yourself. |
| |
Always talk and laugh quietly with your friends on the bus. Do not shout; it distracts your bus driver. |
| |
Keep food and drinks in your backpack or lunch bag. |
| |
Never open a window without the bus driver's permission. Don't put your head, arms, papers or anything out the window. |
| |
If you drop something near your bus, don't pick it up. Your driver may not be able to see you. Ask the driver for help. |
| |
If you have to cross the street, wait until your dirver lets you know it's OK. Always cross in front of the bus where the driver can see you, never behind the bus. |
| |
Always stay away from the bus wheels-- especially the back wheels where it is hard for the driver to see you. |
| |
Be smart--
be a
safe rider!
Always obey
the bus rules!
